Brief history of Disneyland Park Paris
Disneyland Paris opened in 1992 with Disneyland Park as the main complex and was known as EuroDisney until May 1994. The reason for the phasing out of the term "euro" is the multiple implications it contains. To the rest of the world it means something exciting and glamorous, but Europeans associate it with business, trade and currency. The renaming to Disneyland Paris made it an exciting retreat amidst the romantic aura of France.
Until 2002 the park was known as Disneyland Paris and with the opening of Walt Disney Studios the original park complex is now called Disneyland Park in English and Parc Disneyland in French. Disneyland Park was designed and built by Walt Disney Imagineering. The layout of this park is similar to Disneyland Park in California and Magic Kingdom Park in Florida at Walt Disney World. With over 140 hectares, Disneyland Park is the second largest park after Shanghai Disneyland Park.
