The post office credit card is provided in partnership with the Bank of Ireland. The credit card is free for purchases abroad in foreign currency or for purchases in the UK online or over the phone. There is also no cash fee when purchasing travel money at a post office with the card. Users pay zero percent interest on all purchases for the first three months. There is no annual fee on the postal credit card, which also offers free purchase protection insurance. As a MasterCard-affiliated credit card,postal credit cardis accepted at over 32 million locations worldwide. As of June 2014, the current interest rate is 17.8% APR and the basic credit limit is £1,200.
Swiss Post also offers its Travel Money Card Plus, a prepaid MasterCard. The cards are available in eight currencies, including Euros, US Dollars, Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars, New Zealand Dollars, South African Rand, Swiss Francs and British Pounds. The maximum amount that can be loaded onto a card when applying at a post office is £750, while each online application can load between £50 and £5,000 onto the card. ATM fees apply per withdrawal and daily cash limits also apply. A three percent international fee is also charged if the card is used in a country other than the one whose currency is loaded onto the card.
The Post Money Card can be loaded with cash and used similarly to a credit or debit card. The prepaid card is offered in partnership with MasterCard and is accepted at all MasterCard acceptance points. Individuals must be UK residents and aged over 18 to apply for a Post Office Money Card. There are no credit checks and no bank account required to apply for a Money card. Money can be added to the card via SMS, online on the post office website or at any post office. There are no fees when loading the card online or at a post office.
